When Australia and East Timor settled their maritime boundary dispute during 2018, it seemed the way was clear to develop the Greater Sunrise petroleum field under the Timor Sea which would sustain East Timor for decades. However, a dispute about how to develop the oil field is growing between Xanana Gusmao, former president in charge of the project, and oil companies involved. The oil companies are needed as funding partners, but they disagree with aspects of Mr. Gusmao’s plans. Pray for a speedy resolution. Ask God that this oil field will indeed genuinely bring economic blessings to East Timor (The Bible, Proverbs 28:26).
