The West Bank is an area of land east of Israel. It is home to nearly three million Palestinians. Israel took control of it in 1967 and has allowed Jewish settlers to move in. In 1967, Israel fought a war and in six days routed the Arab powers, taking the West Bank and East Jerusalem from Jordan. Israel has controlled the West Bank since then. The West Bank was the heartland of the ancient Jewish state. It’s home to many Jewish holy sites, like the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron. The Israeli authorities have handed the control of large areas of the West Bank to the Palestinian authorities. Bethlehem, in the center of the West Bank, has transformed from more than 70% Christian in the mid-20th century to less than 15%. Throughout the West Bank, military occupation and violent Islamist persecution have practically forced out the dwindling Christian minority, now down to less than 2%. Christians who remain feel largely abandoned and ignored by the global Church. Unemployment soars as high as 30%, and only 17% have access to the available water resources. The Palestinian Basic Law states that the official religion is Islam and Sharia is the main source of legislation.

Praise Report
Praise God that the situation is a little better for Christians in the West Bank where the ruling Fatah party is formally based on secular principles, and Christians enjoy a few rights (The Bible, Proverbs 31:8).

Prayer Request
Pray for converts who feel abandoned in the West Bank, threatened and pressured. Their situation is so dangerous that they live their faith in utmost secrecy (The Bible, 2 Corinthians 4:9).
Pray for the Christians in the West Bank who suffer because of their faith and ethnicity. Pray that God will enable them to be peacemakers and share the love of Christ (The Bible, James 3:18).

Call to Salvation
The hope for a true peace and a solution over the land often seems bleak. Pray that God will bring peace in the Holy land, and that both Jew and Arab alike will accept Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, and find a meaningful reconciliation (The Bible, 2 Corinthians 5:18).

The Gaza Strip is a narrow strip of land along the Mediterranean Sea in the Middle East, bordered by Egypt to the southwest and Israel to the north and east. The majority of people in Gaza are Muslim, with less than 1 percent of them Christian. The majority of Gazans are refugees, living in refugee camps across the Gaza Strip. It has historically been a prime location for trade. Since the formation of the Israeli state in 1948, Gazans life has been dominated by the ensuing issues and conflicts. Many have emigrated due to the extremely poor living conditions and the instability of life. Sixty-one percent of them live as exiles. The terrible situation in Gaza continues. Instead of using international humanitarian aid funds to build and develop the economy in Gaza, Hamas has chosen to use this money to smuggle in weapons and advance its underground tunnel system from where it attacks Israel. Meanwhile, the situation has become insufferable for the residents of Gaza. They suffer from electricity and water shortages and broken sewage systems.

Praise Report
Praise God for the three Bibles Societies serving the Israeli, Arab Israeli and Palestinian communities. Pray that God will send the light of His Word to the people of Gaza so that they will find hope and salvation (The Bible, Isaiah 51:5).

Prayer Request
Pray for the Israeli & Palestinian leaders to have wisdom and integrity to act in the best interests of their people.
Pray that the war and bloodshed will stop in Israel and the Gaza Strip and a peaceful settlement will be negotiated soon (The Bible, Psalm 51:14).
The number of suicides has reached unprecedented levels in Gaza and every third person is on antidepressants. Pray that the unbearable conditions for people in Gaza will improve with the intervention of God’s mighty hand (The Bible, Daniel 9:15).

Call to Salvation
Pray that the Gazans will enter into the light of God through knowing Jesus Christ, the light of the world and have their lives changed for good (The Bible, Ephesians 5:14).
