Guinea is one of the world’s poorest nations, but is rich in bauxite. Mining provides the government with much-needed income and thousands of jobs. However, farmers have lost land to the mining companies without compensation and whole villages have had to move. Dust from the mining is causing massive respiratory health problems. The dust sediment has also clogged up streams so water quality has decreased and water sources have been lost. Pray for the government and mining industry to prosper from natural resources, but do so with integrity and care for the land and the people (The Bible, Colossians 3:17).
