Pray for Niger facebook page

Niger is consistently rated by the UN as one of the world’s poorest, least educated and least developed nations. Slavery, illiteracy, disease and child marriage remain stubborn problems. The encroaching Sahara Desert threatens agriculture, and the country struggles to feed its people. With religious freedom, the country remains open to the gospel. However, tensions between Christians and Muslims have grown, as regional religious tensions have mounted over Islamic extremism. In the last year, Niger has suffered an increase in violent attacks from Boko Haram, an Islamist insurgency group based in Nigeria. As a result, Niger became one of five nations in the region to join forces fighting terrorism.

Praise Report
Praise God for reports of Boko Haram militants in Niger surrendering and being disarmed, taking up an amnesty offer (The Bible, Philippians 1:6).

Prayer Requests
This year Niger again failed to meet the US’ minimum standards for fighting human trafficking. Pray that dignity and respect for human beings is not lost in amongst the struggles of this nation (The Bible, Genesis 1:27).
Pray that God will bless this nation with creative solutions regarding food provision for its people (The Bible, Psalm 81:10).

Call to Salvation
Ask God to strengthen the Church in this nation to be a shining light in the midst of the struggle with poverty and radical Islam (The Bible, Acts 13:47).
