Calling it a free health check, Chinese authorities are taking blood samples, a face scan, voice recording and fingerprints of millions of people. This comprehensive DNA database is part of the increasing surveillance of its citizens, in particular of the minority groups within China. Whether the citizens have consented to participating in this database is questionable. Let us not grow weary of praying for the citizens in China, specially for the minority groups. Pray that they might not react to the government by clinging to their religious and ethnic identities even tighter, but that they may have soft hearts towards the love and freedom found in salvation through Jesus Christ (The Bible, Proverbs 8:17).

Foreign visitors were barred from traveling to the Tibetan region for a period of several weeks around the anniversaries of several significant political events around China’s rule of the region. However, despite the extraordinary levels of security, increasing numbers of tourists are coming to Tibet for mountain climbing and cultural tourism. Pray that this door might remain open, allowing Christians also to travel into Tibet as tourists (The Bible, Matthew 5:16).
